Anna Sui has become the second designer to participate in discount retailer Target’s Designer Collaboration series.
I have always been a fan of designer partnerships with mass retailers. I think it is a great way to bring fashion to everyone Sui, who took inspiration from the four main characters of Gossip Girl for her collection, tells WWD. It is an exciting challenge to try and interpret my aesthetic into a mass-produced product with a specific international source as the focus.
Of the collaboration, a Target spokesman said that the design is meant to push the fashion envelope for Target. We are looking for designers who are edgy and bring something unique to the floor pad and share our vision. The first designer to be featured in the new Designer Collaborations series was Alexander McQueen, while other designers to have collaborated with Target in the past on limited edition ranges and its Go International project have included Anya Hindmarch, Luella Bartley and Proenza Schouler.
