It is not easy to be a star. A star has to shine bright, be it dark or light, hay or storm. No actor or actress is given the benefit of the doubt when they are seen casually on the road or in a gym; people and critics alike want to see them in their best. In decades gone by it was part of the contract presented to actresses to look chic and glamorous whenever they were seen in public. No male or female actress has been spared the wrath of fashion critics and fashion designers. An actress as big as Julia Roberts, had to even go through surgery of criticism. She was recently pointed out by the Italian designer Valentino Garavani. The designer did not hesitate to compare the Oscar winning actress with homeless people in unflattering clothes.
We at Designerz central do not, however, disagree with the renowned designer. We traced Julia Roberts’s appearance on camera in the year 2009 and voted her as one of the worst dressed or rather an actress in worst fitted clothes. Julia Roberts arrived at 36th Film Society of Lincoln Center’s Gala Tribute Honoring Tom Hanks in New York City wearing a white knee length dress with a black cardigan. She chose to wear black shoes which added to the nun like effect, balanced with nude lipstick and casual side parted hair.
Julia Roberts in the premiere for her movie "Duplicity" in New York walked in yet again with her year old hair do, middle parting with loose curls. She wore a dress with a grey floral print supported by a black jacket and yet again a wrong choice in shoes. Too nunnish for a Pretty Women!!
The question arises when all the designers and image consultants are at the beck and call of actresses like Julia Roberts then how come they manage to walk the red carpet looking shabby and unglamorous. They are the gurus people follow, what we learn from them!
