Alexander McQueen died last month at the age of 40, but even after death, he is awarded with the Fashion design award for his spring and summer 2010, collection. The late designer was announced as winner of Brit Insurance Design Awards 2010 prize for fashion design, at the awards ceremony, London’s Design Museum. It was one of the awards’ seven categories. However, he was shortlisted, when he was alive.

Judge of the competition and style director of Grazia magazine, Paula Reed said at the ceremony that the jury did not give the award to McQueen for sentimental reasons but for the work he did. So he was considered as the clear winner of the award. Paula Reed further explained that "The designer had been working for years on developing fabrics that could bend the hard into soft, and had pretty much come close to achieving that in this collection”.

Fashion designer Alexander McQueen’s winning designs are expected to compete, the overall Brit Insurance Design of the Year 2010. The winning designs are supposed to announce at a March 16 ceremony at the Design Museum.
