Karlie Kloss may be one of fashion’s most sought after models, but that doesn’t stop her from having a career hero of her own. "Christy Turlington is my absolute role model," Kloss told us. "She is the definition of true beauty inside and out."

Since being scouted in 2005 at a charity fashion show in her hometown, St Louis in Missouri, she has fronted some of the world’s most famous brands – from Chloe and Dior to Dolce & Gabbana and Marc Jacobs. How does she decide which brands to work with?

"I work strategically with my management team to make all decisions," she said. "I am very lucky to be surrounded and guided by an incredible support team comprised of my family and agents."

Her latest job is as the star of Mercedes Benz‘s latest campaign, a shoot that saw Jefferson Hack assume the role as creative director and Ryan McGinley as photographer. The US beauty was drawn the project because she believes that the motoring brand "sets the bar higher for the new standards of luxury and fashion".

"My favourite part of the shoot was filming on the gorgeous secluded grounds of Tejan Ranch in California," she explained. "Driving the brand new Mercedes model through the undisclosed shoot location was such an adventure, I felt like a secret agent in my top secret getaway car."

The 20-year-old is best known for her catwalk strut and chameleon-like qualities, but Kloss believes it’s her height that gives her an extra edge. "Because I’m so tall, clothes look different on me than they do on others," she said. "I am 6-foot-1′, so I tend to stand out in a crowd and on the runway – quite literally."
