Gerard Butler got into an argument with an elderly couple after their dogs got in a fight near the Long Island City set of his film The Bounty on Monday.
Fred and Maria Varecka claim that Gerard Butler viciously yelled at the couple’s greyhound, Mayfly, when his nose touched that of his pug, Lolita. Then, he slammed the greyhound’s head against a fence. According to Gerard he just pushed the greyhound away from his pug.
According to Butler’s manager, Alan Siegel: "What happened was Gerry was walking his dog, Lolita, who is this little, small pug, a teeny thing. You can hold her in one arm, she’s that small. Then, suddenly, this greyhound, this huge, menacing dog, bites Lolita."
Mayfly, the greyhound managed to take another bite out of Lolita while Maria and Gerard were exchanging hot words. Lolita was badly bruised in the exchange.
Gerard Butler spent three and a half hours at an Upper East Side animal hospital and even gave $3,000 to another family he just met to cover their vet bills.
The Varekas’ filed a report with the NYPD, but no citations were given. Get well, Lolita!
