More specifically, the more than 86,000-square-foot multi-brand complex will house outposts of its budget-orientated apparel brand GU, French fashion brand Comptoir des Cotonniers, lingerie brand Princesse tam.tam and casualwear label PLST, an offshoot of Theory. These stores will mark the mainland China debut for all of these brands. Uniqlo will occupy the bulk of the space at just over 71,000 square feet. GU will have the second biggest space at almost 11,000 square feet, while the other brands’ stores will be considerably smaller.
On Saturday, Uniqlo opened its first store in Indonesia. The nearly 29,000 square-foot store is located in Jakarta’s Lotte Shopping Avenue. A Fast Retailing joint-venture with Mitsubishi Corporation operates the Indonesian business.
Next month Uniqlo will open two stores in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Bangladesh stores, launched in cooperation with the non-profit Grameen Heathcare Trust, offer low-priced items made from locally sourced materials to cater to the needs of Bangladeshi consumers.
