The Fashion for Sandy Relief auction raised a total of $1.7 million (£1.04 million), which will go towards the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City. The fundraiser – which offered once-in-a-lifetime experiences – was organised by US Vogue and the CFDA.

Although individual selling prices were not available, the most bids were placed on a week-long internship with DKNY PR Girl in the brand’s press office in New York – which attracted 35 bids. Also popular was a meet-and-greet with racing-car driver Jeff Gordon at the Daytona 500, with 30 bids placed.

Other prizes included the chance to meet Victoria Beckham backstage at her New York Fashion Week show and a holiday at Tommy Hilfiger‘s Palm Beach estate in Mustique.
