The queen of New York fashion, Diane von Furstenberg was awarded Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Medal by the Municipal Art Society of New York on Thursday evening.
The iconic designer and the President of the council of Fashion Designer of America was honored for her outstanding efforts to revitalize the Meatpacking district and for bringing culture, beauty and livability to New York.
Since opening her flagship store on Washington Street in 2007, Furstenberg has remained a vocal advocate for area construction and development. She led support for construction of High Line Park, and regularly opens her studio space for cultural events.
