He’s already covered in meaningful inkings, and now David Beckham, 40, has added yet another tribute tattoo to his growing collection. The former soccer star showed off his latest ink on Instagram on July 23, and our hearts are melting! The tatt is simple, beautiful and extremely symbolic – but what’s the true meaning behind it?
David had the number 99 etched onto his little finger in a nod to the year he married his wife Victoria Beckham, 41, welcomed his first son Brooklyn, 16, and enjoyed a treble-winning season playing soccer at Manchester United – for those who don’t know, that’s soccer talk for winning three premier league trophies in one season. “99 was a good year for me,” he wrote alongside a close-up of the new ink. You can say that again!
The tattoo enthusiast already has a number of inkings paying tribute to his family. On his right hand he has the word Victoria, he has Brooklyn in a semi-circle at the bottom of his back, the name of his second oldest Romeo, 12, at the top in between his shoulder blades and his youngest son Cruz, 10, mid way up his back. He also has his daughter Harper’s, 4, name written on his left collarbone, not to mention a plethora of other designs.
The latest tatt comes just a few weeks after the soccer stud and newly minted underwear model posted a loving tribute to his gorgeous wife on their 16th wedding anniversary. “16 years ago today was our special day… 16 years on we have our beautiful children… Thank you for giving me our amazing little ones …. Happy anniversary,” he captioned a throwback photo of the two posing side-by-side. How cute?
As for the road ahead, David is prepared to make his big screen debut with a role in his BFF Guy Richie’s new film, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. The news came on Tuesday, July 21, after Victoria posted a picture of her husband to her Instagram page confirming his exciting new gig. David is also said to be starring in Guy’s hotly anticipated flick King Arthur – although his exact role has not yet been confirmed. Seriously, is there anything this man can’t do?
