Cheryl Fernandez-Versini was left very angry when she was referred to by her former last surname at The X Factor show.

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini was left fuming when she was referred to by her former last surname ahead of The X Factor results show.

The reality show judge formerly known as Mrs Cole branded warm-up host Ian Royce ignorant for calling her by her old married name in front of the studio audience and her new husband Jean-Bernard. According to the Daily Star, Cheryl sternly said to Royce ‘it’s not hard to pronounce my name phonetically’ after he tried to joke about her lengthy new title.

The Sun claims Cheryl said ‘it wasn’t hard to say unless you were arrogant and had no common sense.’

It wasn’t long before the warm-up guy was receiving a barrage of abuse from Cheryl fans on Twitter, forcing him to tweet: ‘I love @CherylOfficial She stands up for what she believes in and speaks her mind for what she holds true. I respect and admire that. ‘I’m getting destroyed on twitter by the @CherylOfficial fans… I got the name wrong…I apologised. Let’s all move on.

He then tweeted a user directly saying: ‘I’m the warm up…She is the star..She had every right to "Put me in my place" I did apologise – I made a mistake.’ Cheryl divorced Roma footballer Ashley Cole, 33, in 2010 after learning of a series of infidelities on his part. She surprised the nation when this year she secretly married Frenchman Jean-Bernard in a secret ceremony just a few months ago.
