DESIGNER Amanda Brown makes a hit every time with her new collection. This time it wasnt the usual chiffon, cotton or silk she uses to create her designs. Instead, her models suavely walked down the ramp in outfits made from old newspapers.
Brown further beautified her unique collection with lovely ribbons and colorful flowers. In fact, brown was wearing a self-made dress made out from newspapers when she stood on stage to take the crowds acknowledgments.
Amanda Brown was one of the many designers whose ingenious collections were shown at the Malaysian Official Designers’ Association (Moda) Fashion Gateway held during 1 Utama Shopping Centre’s Fashion on 1 fashion week.
The outstanding event successfully featured the Malaysia Young Designers’ Showcase and Moda Unity Fashion Showcase. Also, it brilliantly showcased a presentation by brands like Jendela KL, Noor Arfa, Noir, Gallo and Jarumas Concepts.
The Moda Unity Fashion Showcase highlighted tremendous and exclusive creations for both women and men by Moda designers including Melinda Looi, Alvin Tay, Carven Ong, Jovian Mandagie, Keith Kee, Key Ng, Nazleen Noor, Beatrice Looi and Karl Ng.
The Malaysia Young Designers’ Showcase displayed art pieces by the top 12 finalists of the Mercedes-Benz Stylo Young Designers’ Award 2009, together with the top three winners namely Andy Yap, Michelle Shia and Joe Chia.
Joyce Wong – winner of Mercedes-Benz Stylo Young Designers’ Award 2008, also displayed her collection at the event, at the same time as emcee Edwin Sumun had the crowd distracted with his amusing antics.
“Events like this fashion showcase is about every one coming together to bring the fashion industry forward,” explained Moda president Gillian Hung, who was dressed in a fascinating all-black ensemble designed by Yap, the Mercedes-Benz Stylo Young Designers’ Award 2009 winner.
Moda is a non-profit organization which has actively been around for the last 19 years to promote and encourage unity in the fashion industry.
