The 1975′s huge single ‘The Sound’ was nearly given to One Direction, frontman Matt Healy has revealed. Back in 2014, Healy’s mother Denise Welch claimed that he was working on a collaboration with the ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ boyband, before many fans started to believe that ‘Change Your Ticket’ was penned by him due to its similarity to ‘Girls’.

Now, Healy has revealed that the massive track from their Mercury-nominated second album ‘I Like It When You Fall Asleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It‘, was presented to Harry Styles and co. “I went into the studio with them One Direction for a couple of hours to work on some stuff and, funnily enough, I ended up showing them ‘The Sound’ as a suggestion, but nothing came of it” he told Q. “I was asked to do it, so I thought I’d see how it all works but it just didn’t really work very well. It didn’t resonate so I thought I’d stick to own thing.”

Earlier this year, Healy questioned One Directions ‘artistic credibility’.
