Swarovski crystals were sprayed all over the red carpet was sprinkled and Champagne was flowing. Swarovski Chandeliers were displayed on stage and the stage was transformed into a glamorous glitter ball.

Victoria Beckham sparkled bright amongst all the glitz and glamour in a long black gown from her own range.

Supermodel Claudia Schiffer was amongst the celebrities at the gala evening. She walked the red carpet in a gown designed by Peter Pilotto. Kate Moss picked up the London 25 award decided by a public vote. Kate also accepted the award on behalf of John Galliano for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design.

Christopher Bailey, Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer was awarded the BFA’s Designer of the Year. Burberry was also awarded as the Best Designer Brand.

The award for Britain’s finest talent went to Katie Hillier. Georgia May Jagger smiled all the way up to the stage to receive her Model of the Year award. Grace Coddington received the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator and Christopher Kane picked it for Collection of the Year.

Amongst the extensive list of guests who attended the celebration for 25 years of British fashion were Karen Elson, Pixie Geldof, Erin O Connor and Vivienne Westwood.

But the sparkle failed to ease the minds of some designers. The global recession was in the minds of some attendees as they openly expressed their views on the “very very scary time”. They showed little hope for the year to come and accepted that the next year was going to be really really horrific.
